I am learning a lot about watches in space from this thread, thanks to everyone's excellent contributions. It's a topic I knew very little about. With Kath's approval I might extend the topic of the thread to watches that are *about* space, rather than just the watches that have gone *into* space. I can think of three watches like this offhand (well, one is a whole company with several models.) The first of these is one that I own, the Citizen Astrodea. I just posted my old review of that watch in the Blog section here. It has a star chart with over two thousand celestial objects at 5 different magnitudes, that rotates counterclockwise in sidereal time.

The only reason I don't own the two others below is that I wouldn't wear them - they are really large, thick and the styling doesn't appeal to me; however the features are beautiful and fascinating. These are the famous Seiko Think The Earth watch and the Yes Solunar watches.

I really want a Think The Earth, but it is 45mm wide by 24.4mm thick - not gonna work for me. It comes in northern and southern hemisphere types, and the globe rotates through the shadow of night on a 24 hour cycle, reminding the wearer that calendar time really is a planetary phenomenon.

The Yes Watch company makes a range of quirky ana-digi quartz watches with complex custom LCD displays that show sun and moon declinations, tides, equinox and solstice with a hundred-year perpetual calendar. I love the features, but not so much the look nor the large size. Still tempting though... one of these days.

In another post I might go so far as to find pictures of some of the insanely complex high-end mechanical watches with astronomical complications, such as the Graves Patek or modern Christian Van der Klaauw movements. But that could pull this thread rather far afield.

Come to think of it, I see a new blog post formulating...

Too many watches, not enough wrists.

Probably the most recent space watch:

The Ball EHC Spacemaster X-Lume was worn by Captain Pointdexter:
