A question for the historians here
What watch company or watch strap company produced the first mesh and/or BOR bracelet?
Why was the design created?
Is that style typically used on watches intended for use in the water? Because they dry easily or because they don't break easily?
Inquiring minds.....

From Five Things
- The first Milanaise bracelets were probably made by the Etruscans in around 500BC. The Etruscan territory was a little to the south of Milan, but it is the Renaissance goldsmiths of Milan that are referenced in the name. These days, most handworked Milanaise bracelets are made in Pforzheim, Germany.
Milanaise = mesh. They have have been used as watch bracelets since the nineteenth century. Presumably, people liked the look of them. The design is practical for dive watches, but the origin is aesthetic.
