LG Watch Urbane Luxe Limited Edition Sells for $1,200

The LG Watch Urbane is already one of the classier looking wearable devices on the market but there’s a special model available that lets you strap some gold on your wrist for considerably less than the $10,000 tab for the Apple Watch Edition.
For a short time, LG is offering the limited edition LG Watch Urbane Luxe for $1,200. For that price you get a spiffed up version of the regular LG Watch Urbane with a 23-karat gold case, handcrafted alligator leather strap and deployment clasp. All of this is packaged in a shiny piano-gloss lacquer case. Each piece will be marked with an engraved number on the case back.
If you want to pick up an LG Watch Urbane Luxe of your own, act fast because this is a limited edition of just 500 models. LG has partnered up with Reeds Jewelers, which will be the exclusive retailer for the watch until the end of October. For pre-orders, go to www.reeds.com or drop by any Reeds Jewelers store.
The fancy smartwatch will be making its official debut at the IFA consumer electronics trade fair that kicks off later this week in Berlin. LG will also be showing a sensor that can make large home appliances “smart” and several Wi-Fi equipped small home appliances but the Luxe version of the Watch Urbane is sure to be the most talked-about item from the South Korean electronics firm.
According to LG’s Chris Yie, “Wearable devices shouldn’t be thought of as an extension of one’s smartphone but an extension of oneself.” Maybe that means that wearing the LG Watch Urbane Luxe makes the owner status-conscious enough to buy a gold-plated smartwatch but too cheap to spend $10,000 to $17,000 for one from Apple.
