Thread: Timex Explorer 1016 homage fluffs it

Timex Explorer 1016 homage fluffs it

I came across this online today and was almost taken with it until I noted 3 horrible details which I then couldn't unsee.

    1) The horrible T logo they've put in place of the Mercedes hand. I can see someone in a boardroom pitching it as a great little touch but to me it just looks like poor QC
    2) The date window. For the love of God at least put it at 4 or something so it doesn't completely ruin the dial.
    3) Lug width is too small, which makes the head look uncomfortably swollen

Plus it's 42mm and the Waterbury logo makes excessive Rolex dial printing look like the best thing ever.

Still, nice to see something a bit different.
They also have this slightly beefed up heir to the Weekender which I like.

That hour hand looks even worse 'in person'...
Strange that they come up with that, cause they have this:

I have couple of Timex analogs and I really appreciate their accuracy, but from the design point of view it was really hard (for me that was) to find pieces that I'd like.
As for particular Waterbury line that whole writing just doesn't make much sense: yes, that was Waterbury company originated back in 1854, but that wasn't original Indiglo watch introduced hundred years later. It seems to me, they just wrote down everything they had "Look, we are old, reputable and we have Indiglo!"

"Happiness is not a state to arrive at, but a manner of travelling." Margaret Lee Runbeck.

That's the Timex Classic advertising for the next year fixed, then
It's the final countdown! PM me before they're all gone!

Olly, yes, they truly dropped the ball
Why are there so many ham-handed Explorer homages out there?
    Such a simple design.
It makes you even start to think that Rolex know what they're doing

    I know, I was kidding
I love my new Timex, they do make some great affordables, just not the 1016 homage

This one is a complete horrorshow, it's like the designer dropped all his paperwork and mixed up the design notes for 2 completely different watches.
