    Custom Dial Rolex

In my general internet browsing there is a web site I have on occasion checked out that has quite a big inventory of vintage watches. The have a whole section of what they describe as custom dial Rolex watches.
My question is why? It seems straight forward enough to get a service dial so these odd coloured dials have they devalued the watch? If you send to Rolex for service it is unlikely to come back with this dial on it so why are they put together. Or are they approved Rolex parts?
Is there a market for this type of customization?

Seems like there were a lot of these brightly colored redials in the mid 70s. Orange is common. I've also seen yellow, green, and even purple. You usually see it on vintage Date and DateJust models, which aren't high on resale value anyway so the devaluation isn't probably as serious as a modification on a vintage sports model.

Are they produced by Rolex as they carry the branding, the site I quoted seems to be genuine . They have pages of these and seem to be putting them together themselves.
Not my taste but there are a lot listed

At some point in time, Rolex produced the so called Stella dials, These were bright colored lacquered dials, designed for the middle east. They were produced only for a short period of time, and hence quite rare. And for Rolex that means the are quite collectible at the moment and pricey, say $10k+.I guess some people had their dials repainted to go for a similar look. As for the value, I myself would not buy a repainted dial, or subtract the price for a replacement dial.

Personally, I really dig the oxblood stella:

But the bright baby blue is also quite cool (minus the rocks of course....)
