I don't think I realized how much most smart watches and fitness bands look like 1980s and 90s Rados and at least one 1970s one.
I never made that connection either until seeing the wrist shot. I wouldn't be surprised if many people mistake it for a smart watch.

That has always been one of those watches I've admired for the technology even though I probably would not have considered it.

    Nice gesture from your friend.

And then, when I thought your Rado collection was almost impossible to "improve" another classic comes in, and proves me wrong.

It isn't just the Ceramica alone either. In 1976 Rado released my least favourite Diastar ever, the Diastar 67 Glissaire. If you take an Apple watch, put it on the link metal bracelet and give it the smaller round "watch" dial it bears a more than passing resemblance to the Diastar 67.

It was lovely gesture, but then he is like that.

    And thank you C.

This causes me a big problem though. Of the three classic minimalist 1990s Rados the Ceramica is by far my least favourite. I have never considered owning one. Of all available Ceramicas the last configuration I would likely choose would be a black quartz model with gold accents and diamonds. Yet here I sit with exactly that on my arm and...I like it. This means that the early titanium carbide mechanical Sintra I have considered in the past, must now go on the list. It also means that the recent white dialed COSC mechancial Integral needs to go on the list. Problems, problems, problems. What's a guy to do?

Very cool, Henry. It definitely will catch the eye of the Apple Watch crowd. It is great knowing this came from a friend, and it was gifted to you by your wife. Enjoy it in all its cool vibeness! Is this one an auto Quartz or just a regular Quartz?

That thought that occurred to you: a single watch or "retirement" watch...remember? I'm afraid that's not going to happen.

Odd analogy : watches are a bit like books. When one is reading a book, there are always references to other books/ theories/ authors and it leads us to other readings and re-start the process over and over again. It's the proverbial never ending story. With watches, a model leads to another which in turn direct us to another... "What's a guy to do?"

Thank you Jane. This particular model is a regular quartz. The definite upside to that is that it is only 7mm thick, but due to it's design wears almost as thin as the bracelet , which is under 4mm thick. It is super sleek.
