Thread: Just for fun, which is the one?

Just for fun, which is the one?

So, you're off to a gathering of like-minded WIS. You need to choose your watch carefully. There's no one universally loved watch, but which watch do you think would gather the most positive comments and place you as a fellow WIS in most of the group's minds? Yeah, I know, that's not why we buy them, but anyway....

Let's keep things reasonably affordable and available. No made to order millionaires' pieces..

Well, I reckon Rolex is out. Too Marmite, more polarising than any other brand. Likewise Grand Seiko. Too many people see them as just overpriced Seikos. So what for I ptjink could be a safe bet?

    No I don't.

But seriously, I've never done that. I wear the watch I would have been wearing anyway.

I had dinner with Jörg Schauer wearing a G-Shock.

Well if Rolex and Tudor are out that cuts down my choices dramatically. Guess I'd go with this one. Not a terribly well known brand even among WIS, which I thought was surprising but run into it quite often. The Parmigiani Fleurier movement is excellent for conversation, and I think the style as a whole has a fairly broad appeal. So, the BS500 it is.
