Tried on a couple of Rolexes yesterday...

No pictures, sorry. First, I really wanted to see the purple dialed OP that OrangeSport has. They had one, and unfortunately, it looked really tiny on my wrist. He didn't have the new 39mm in that color, although even if he did, I'm not sure I would like the red markers on it. He had the blue version, with the green markers--didn't care for it.

Then I tried on the platinum dialed Yachtmaster--looked great, fit like a glove, even better than my Hulk, due to the rounded sides and lugs. Definitely staying on the short list.

Interestingly, the fellow at the shop said that they can't keep the Hulk in stock--as soon as they get one, poof, it's gone. He said it's even worse in Asia, which I believe--I go there every year, and have yet to see one on display at an AD in Shanghai, Hong Kong or Singapore.

Had a nice chat with the guy at the counter, who was pretty knowledgeable. We talked about travel watches; he was very interested in my JLC Master Hometime Aston Martin, which he had never seen (I had a picture in my phone). A pleasant visit.

Did you, by any chance, checked the Cellinis? I'm a bit curious...

I didn't try any on, no. I've looked at them before, but honestly, if I'm going to get a dress watch at that price range, I'd save a bit more and get a VC or PP. Which of course I've already done. The Cellinis just don't jump out at me.

I tried on an Explorer (black dial - I think that's the 1?) and it felt really nice.

And I found the Cellinis gorgeous. Didn't try them on, but if I was in the market for something like that, I'd certainly consider it.

Explorer wears very nice and is one of the best overall models by Rolex, IMHO.

IMO the 39mm OP works best with the grey dial..
