It did cross my mind, but as others have said, it wouldn't have worked. Also, I wouldn't have enjoyed seeing it dropped into the confiscated items bin. The taxi driver was a good bloke, so better that he has it.

Which model did you go for?
Marine A10 with the Soprod movement.

As well as being one of the most affordable, it's also the one I like best. Seeing all the models together, I preferred the brushed case and silver dial combination that only comes with the A10. It's also 40mm x 9.2mm, where some others are bigger and thicker.

The white dials looked a little stark by comparison. The silver dial has an understated and intriguing quality, and it's a great match for the case.

I was also tempted by the white dial Partitio, especially as a hand-wind. Photos don't do it justice, and it's just perfect at 37mm. It's a quality watch, easily overlooked.

A great read, thanks for sharing the trip with us....the pictures really show Jorg's style.

I'm lucky to own 2 of Jorg's original works, and 1 more on it's way today....great timing to run into this thread.

Thanks for posting. Great story and pics. It's a shame you couldn't take the knife home with you.
