I’m not much of a rental person, either. I buy what I like, and rarely sell. This would result in two things for me—either I wouldn’t care for a particular arrival and wouldn’t wear it, or I’d like it but know I’d been sending it off and therefore wouldn’t wear it (or if I really loved it, buy my own). Either way, not an efficient use of dollars.

You did present flawed logic. From what I remember of your collection several are more retail than $3K so that was not a realistic price point given current watch prices. Also there needs to be an out clause like if you leave you can take one of the watches, but how to decide which could be problematic. Simple truth is there just is no cheap way to do this without risk. Several similar clubs have started, but the type of watches they have are of no interest to me. I want to wear things that I would want to own , but don't have. Most of those are very hard to get and I would not see the club being any more successful than I am in obtaining one. I don't. see a point in being part of a club with watches that are easy to get and not really something I would buy.

Michael

I think these types of clubs are best for those starting in the hobby who don't know what they will like to wear, how various cases fit their wrist, straps vs bracelets, and maybe even what each price tier brings as far as finishing and quality. I flipped a lot of watches because of fit, style, or just being fickle, as I learned about watches. Now I have a great collection that I love to own and wear but I couldn't have arrived here without some trial and error.

I think this sort of idea could work well with micro brands, for the exact reasons you mentioned.

Could be trouble. Some threads around about a wondering watch that's sent on to the next person , that sends on , etc. Some vanish.

Yup. I had experience of that at WUS. I think I might have supplied the watch.

I stole a strap from William's travelling watch.
But I was found out so I posted it on.
