I don't like wearing wrist watches when I go walking, so I wear my hiking watch. It's a Timex WS4.

Pretty cool! Always wanted a WS4 but haven't pulled the trigger so far.

They are very handy.
I have two comments that a non-owner probably hasn't thought about. First, it has a battery cover that is removable with just a coin. So it's incredibly useful as a survival-type instrument in that regard. Second, it does require that the user know fully how to operate it and consequently know how to calibrate it frequently if it is to be fully utilized. It's not difficult, but it should be noted that it's not a "set up and forget" device.
It's rugged and very useful.
Oh, and it's best used hanging from a backpack so that the temperature is more accurate. On the wrist, it's not at all accurate.

Cool! I didn't know they came ina carabiner version! I agree the WS4 is a great outdoor watch. I use mine for geocaching, and stormwatching along with my (matching!) Kestrel 4000:

Happy Thanksgiving to the Americans out there.
Before the extended family descends upon us in a few hours, I am doing three of my favorite thing: (1) hanging out with one of my daughters; (2) lingering over a good coffee at a local coffee bar (in this case a decaf Americano); (3) spending some time at a watch forum.
Casio W-735H-2 again today, on a new navy/orange NATO.

It's no "uglier" than a lot of sport-digital type watches, and better looking, IMO, than many.
