Chat gpt
I'm a hobbiest port - written over a hundred in my time including a few about watches. I'm aware of chat gpt - very cool, could put humans out of work etc but they said that about the combine harvester....
I asked it to 'write a poem about why I can't get a rolex from an authorised dealer due to availability shortages' and it kicked this out in 3 seconds. Absolutely mind blowing technology
In the world of luxury timepieces,
Rolex stands tall with its glimmering creases.
But obtaining one is no easy feat,
The waiting list goes on and on, it seems.
Authorized dealers are few and far between,
And when you find one, they say, "Sorry, not seen."
The demand is high, the stock is low,
The waiting game is all we know.
It's not just about the money you spend,
It's the prestige and status that a Rolex can extend.
It's a symbol of success, of hard work and pride,
A timepiece that will always stand the test of time.
But patience is a virtue, so they say,
And waiting for a Rolex is a small price to pay.
For when that day finally arrives,
And you place that watch on your wrist with a smile.
You'll know it was worth the wait,
That your patience and perseverance were not in vain.
For a Rolex is not just a timepiece,
It's a symbol of your success, your life's masterpiece.

And I said write another
The Rolex, a timeless treasure,
A symbol of prestige and leisure,
But getting one can be a test,
For it's not just money that you invest.
The authorized dealers are hard to find,
And when you do, it's not always kind,
The waiting list can be so long,
That patience becomes your favorite song.
You dream of the day you'll wear it with pride,
On your wrist, the Rolex will reside,
A symbol of hard work and success,
A timeless piece that you can't repress.
The scarcity only makes it more desirable,
The waiting list only makes it more admirable,
For when you finally get your hands on one,
The feeling is one that can't be undone.
So, let the waiting game begin,
And let the anticipation sink in,
For a Rolex is more than just a watch,
It's a timeless treasure that you can't botch.

"And another, but with the last words of the bottom 2 lines of each verse rhyming too"
Oh, the Rolex, a treasure so fine, A symbol of luxury and time, But getting one can take a while, And the waiting can be quite a trial.
Authorized dealers are hard to come by, And even then, they may just deny, But the wait is worth it, in the end, For a Rolex, a timeless trend.
Patience is key, or so they say, As you wait for your watch day by day, And though the scarcity may cause you pain, The reward of a Rolex, it will remain.
So, let the anticipation rise, As you dream of wearing the ultimate prize, And soon enough, you'll hear the chime, Of a Rolex, a treasure so divine.

I love the samples of ChatGPT writing things like term papers, where it completely invents history in slightly believable ways. I think the Rolex poetry might be a bit stronger. Still, these are very interesting developments.
Too many watches, not enough wrists.

My dad is objecting to a new development in his local area as asked me to get involved. This took a bit longer - 30 seconds or so
write an objection to planning application for 100 houses in the Green Belt in Colney heath St Albans uk
!
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to express my strong objection to the proposed planning application for the construction of 100 houses in the Green Belt area of Colney Heath, St Albans, UK.
The Green Belt is an essential and valuable asset for the local community and the wider environment. It provides a vital green space for wildlife, acts as a natural barrier against urban sprawl, and helps to maintain the character and beauty of the local area. Any development in this area would be detrimental to the environment, wildlife, and the overall quality of life for the local community.
Furthermore, the proposed development would exacerbate existing issues such as traffic congestion, noise pollution, and air pollution. The roads in and around Colney Heath are already heavily congested, and the addition of 100 houses would only worsen the situation. The increased traffic would not only cause inconvenience to residents but also pose a significant risk to road safety.
In addition, the development would put a strain on local services such as schools, healthcare facilities, and public transport, which are already struggling to cope with the current demand. The proposed development would also place a significant burden on the local infrastructure, including water supply and drainage systems, which may not be able to handle the increased demand.
It is important to note that the Green Belt is protected by national planning policy, and any development in this area should only be allowed in exceptional circumstances. The proposed development does not meet the criteria for exceptional circumstances, and the loss of the Green Belt would be irreversible and have long-term negative consequences for the community and the environment.
In conclusion, I urge you to reject the proposed planning application for the construction of 100 houses in the Green Belt area of Colney Heath, St Albans, UK. The Green Belt is a valuable asset that should be protected, and any development in this area would be detrimental to the local community and the wider environment.
Thank you for considering my objection.
Yours sincerely,
[Your Name]

Robert, my friend, an artist of sound,
Whose music echoes and surrounds,
A master of electronic beats,
A symphony of soulful treats.
Known in our watch forum as Skywatch,
He tinkers with timepieces, a lover and notch,
In his garden, he finds peace,
With flowers and plants, a sweet release.
From California, his melodies flow,
Across the oceans, they gently go,
Captivating our hearts with each note,
A journey of rhythm, a joyful bloat.
His music is a garden of sound,
Each track, a petal, on which we are found,
Lost in the beauty of his creation,
Lost in the moment, a sweet sensation.
Robert, my friend, with wrists adorned,
A watch collector, his passion reborn,
Through music and timepieces, his artistry found,
A sky full of music, a garden that astounds.

Which is why I excerpted that quote above, one of those rhymes that only an AI could love.
Too many watches, not enough wrists.
