    Field watches

Never liked them at all... Until now, I suddenly find myself drawn to them. What are you favourites for under a grand or so?

Not saying I'm gonna buy one but...

Edit if anyone posts a bund strap I'll request that you be banned.

Big fan of the fieldwatch-design, ever since I owned a Timex "MacGyver" as a kid.
My recommendation would be the Khaki Field Mechanical (on the left). If you wanna go cheap -- get the Timex North Field solar. The 36mm version (on the right) without date is very similar to the Khaki Field.

The Seiko "New Military" is also pretty nice:

I’d have to nominate the one I have - the CWC Mellor 72. It was a general services watch, so qualifies as ‘field’. You wouldn’t like the fixed lugs, though.

Then there are two from Timor -

Less authentic, but very nice - Formex. It even has ‘field’ on the dial. There are various colours -

I'd accept fixed lugs here, field watches don't come on bracelets which is fine. The cwc story is cool, that's for sure. The black Timor is the best looking posted here to far I think...

    Keep em coming though!

This one came on a bracelet, really love it for the $200 I spent on it.

My wife has the bracelet on her Blancpain.

If you can find any of the Smiths, they are good watches for the money. Just hard to find used and difficult to buy new.

The Benrus (second from left) is for sale

The Timor is however, strictly speaking, a "Dirty Dozen" trench-watch design which predates the field-watch design with center seconds.

Field watches typically have center seconds and the "military time" 12/24 hrs dial design.
They did evolve from the trench watches of course, so the "lines" between both types are somewhat blurry.
Still to me, a proper field-watch should have the 12/24-hr dial.

Field watches arent really my thing but I really like that CWC Melor even if it doesn't meet the strict criteria for the dial.
