    Morning, IWL.

    Smiths today.

And, a chunky skunk on one of my cameras last night.

Taking the kids to the airport later this morning. It was a fun visit but far too short.

Once in awhile you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.

Happy Boxing Day for those who celebrate!

The last of my refurb rotation, this 1955-ish Wittnauer tank, purchased for a pittance ($50) from an excellent seller of "grampa watches" Gregoire in Saipan. It was in very good working condition, but a bit dusty and grimy. I felt like I might try my skills at cleaning accumulated dust-shadow around the numerals on the dial, lint from under the crystal, some de-bronzing, and a delicate cleanup in the exterior cracks. I had learned a bit from previous disasters trying to clean up some old 2209 Vympels, accidentally destroying a lacquer dial for example. Nothing abrasive, no solvents, just delicate touching with the stem-end of a broken cotton swab (bent around a bit to soften it), plastic brush-style toothpicks, and such. I felt rather proud of the subtle improvements.

Too many watches, not enough wrists.
