Thread: Baoshihua peacock dial

    Baoshihua peacock dial

    I have a Shanghai with a peacock dial…

    …and a Suzhou…

    …and two Huanghes (I gave two away)…

    …and a Hongqi…

    …and a Xian…

    …and a Zhongshan with 8 of them…

…but there was one major vintage peacock missing. For a while, I looked enviously at meijlinder's beautiful example, but now I’m pleased to announce the gap has been filled – I found a Baoshihua with a peacock dial.

The Shanghai crown isn’t original to the watch.

This one's date code is LB (February 1977). I noticed that it was the same year as the movement inside the textured flower dial Shanghai 7120 I bought at the same time, and it got me thinking – when were my other peacock dial watches made?

Huanghe movements don’t have date codes, and we don’t have a start year for the Zhongshan SN2. The others:

    Baoshihua: February 1977
    Hongqi: March 1977
    Suzhou: June 1977
    Shanghai: July 1977

    Xian: August 1980
