Need a new prime lens for my song a5100 mirrorless after the wife dropped it. Shall I get the oem one? Price is a factor. Main use is basic photography and erm home videos.

There's a big difference between a prime and a zoom, each has a couple of advantages and downsides
Mainly:
Zoom - obviously you can zoom to frame your shot as you want, but generally aren't as 'fast' - i.e. they generally don't let as much light in.
Prime - obviously you can't zoom , so you will have to walk about (back and forth) to frame your shot but generally they let in more light, so you'll get better shots indoors or in low light conditions because the camera doesn't need to bump up the ISO (sensitivity) to compensate for the lack of light - as the ISO goes up the pic starts to get grainy.
So a zoom is flexible at the expense of light gathering capabilites, but a prime can get you a better pic at the expense of zoom capability.
Don't just jump in and get any old prime, check the F number (Lower is better light gathering), but also check the focal length, cos you'll be stuck with it.(Unless you buy another prime to go along as money comes up.)
Me? - in your situation ? .... Initially I'd go for a https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/cameras-and-camcorders/photography-accessories/lenses/sony-fe-50-mm-f-1-8-standard-prime-lens-10147056-pdt.html?istCompanyId=bec25c7e-cbcd-460d-81d5-a25372d2e3d7&istFeedId=4d7eb93e-055f-499d-8ee5-1cdcc50d67d1&istItemId=xrxiqaapa&istBid=tztx&srcid =198&cmpid=ppc~gg~0011%20(PLA)%20INTERCHANGEABLE%2 0LENS%20CAMERAS~All%20Products~Exact&mctag=gg_goog _7904&kwid=GOOGLE&device=c&ds_kids=927000464982348 29&tgtid=0011%20(PLA)%20INTERCHANGEABLE%20LENS%20C AMERAS&&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIm-CD5-vt5AIVCbrtCh2e7giaEAYYAyABEgLI_fD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
Without optical Stab though ^^^
If you want with Optical Stab this:
https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/camera...E&gclsrc=aw.ds
50mm on the sony (with a crop factor of 1.53) is the full frame equiv of a 35mm lens (which is the go-to lens for a full frame - cos it best emulates the focal length of what the eye sees)
https://www.trustedreviews.com/revie...-fe-50mm-f-1-8
Or even a Sigma 50mm (but you'll see for a increase in F from 1.8 (already very good) down to 1.4 is a huge hit on the pocket)
(Increase in this context sounds odd at first cos you're heading for low numbers for better quality options)

I'll go with your suggestion I think - I plan on having the camera for years to come so worth a few quid more a decent lens. I thought the oem did have zoom though? I can't remember. I'm such a noob.

The original was a zoom 16 - 50 , so the prime is at the long (zoomed in) end of that
Unless you want to do ultra wide landscapes the 50mm should be cool, and better pics.

For an idea of what the resultant photo will look like
Click on https://imaging.nikon.com/lineup/lens/simulator/
Then select DX lens (as this is the same sensor crop factor as your sony system) , then use the slider and move to 16mm to 50mm - this is the range you had before
Obviously when it's set to 50mm on there, that's the prime view.
Understand ?
BUT it's not just about the field of view, the extra light gathering capability (the F number) of the prime can't be underestimated - it will make your indoor (or low light) pics better, and you won't need to use flash.
The prime is F1.8 .... your old zoom was F3.5 to F5.6 - so it's a huge leap in light gathering

Would that be any good for video do you think?

It will be excellent picture quality at the expense of missing OIS
Some OIS is rubbish anyway with video
What they take away with one spec they give you back in another spec , with most lenses.
You get what you pay for.
Also some would say you don’t need OIS with such a short focal length.
I still say go for the lens I suggested, given the budget you suggested.
