One of the biggies that has caught me out is assuming that, because the watch isn't a Diastar or Balboa and doesn't have a sapphire crystal, I will be able to fix any scratches. Certain models with hardened glass crystals, such as Ticino or StratoJet, seem to come up for sale with badly damaged crystals. It is almost impossible to make these look good again. I know that Henry has had some success but I haven't.
Many models have the model name stamped onto the case back. This is an easy first clue to the originality of the watch. Believe it or not, sellers will 'guarantee' that a watch is completely genuine even when the case back has a different name from the dial.
We've both forgotten your observation.
- If the dial is black it is probably repainted.
Same with transparent blue.
And along with that- Fire engine red, lemon yellow or orange dials-NO!

How could we forget that?
Also, silver rotating anchor should be in a silver coloured case.

Not to be too snippy but this is the difference between IWL and WUS:
Here, people who have nothing more than a vague passing interest comment on a thread like this while there even the guy that private messaged me can't be bothered to at least say thanks.

Vintage rado isn't for me but they're very interesting and colourful pieces - fun to look at - and this is a very useful resource - I'm impressed with your knowledge (and scott's).
