Thread: Places you should visit at least once!

    Jerusalem:

and while you are there, it'd be rude not to drop into Jesus' tomb in the Church of the Holy Sephulcre:

The Noble Sanctuary/Dome of the Rock

    and the Wailing Wall

Whenever there is a period of heightened tension or minor war, the prices of flights collapse and I'm off. It means the streets and sights are nice and empty too.

I have to say that every single place that I've been on that list I thought was amazing (The only possible exception is the pyramids, but that's not the pyramids, especially inside them, it's the fact that it's located in a nasty run down suburb of Cairo with views over what would be considered landfill in most countries. Gibraltar is indeed tiny, but it's loaded with interest inside and out.

I agree with the comment about Naples - although the Amalfi coast is lovely. Also the buildings around the tower at PIsa are indeed extremely interesting - especially the Baptistry with its multiple echoes.
I certainly found the Acropolis and Pompeii worth the visit.

Local favorite, Whistler BC. Love everything about it except the price of real estate.
Favorite chill out travel destination is Costa Rica hands down. Specifically the southwest coast.

Soooo many great places. From my own experience, the unmissable cities are the obvious two; New York and Paris along with Sydney as a personal favourite.
Away from the concrete, Anse d'Argent (Seychelles), Corcovado (Costa Rica), the Daintree (Queensland, Australia) and the Ngorongoro crater for a truly tear-in-the-eye feeling of being on a very special planet.

Still a load of countries I'm desperate to see, though. First among them is Japan but I'm not sure when I'll get there.

(BTW, photos are from around the 'net).
