    Don't take any wooden nickles

This 25 year old nursing student I know was walking out the door going to work and when she said goodbye I said don't take any wooden nickels from strangers. She looked at me like I had grown a 3rd eye and said uhm, what, okay.

    Kids. God help us.

I once heard a mother advise her daughter to ‘Keep your hand on your ha'penny.'

I was only a boy, but I got the general drift.

A ‘ha’penny’, by the way was a halfpenny, pronounced ‘haypny’.

    There’s a song, Alan

Dad always warned me about taking wooden nickels. Then again, he did want to sent me to the local store to buy some powdered electricity.
