I have a fun money savings account and a little money from each paycheck goes into the account. When it's enough to buy a watch, I buy a watch. At this point in my life I've pretty much spent all that I'm comfortable spending on watches. For me to buy another watch I'd have to like it enough to sell one of my current pieces in order to fund the new one.

Finally, beware the "GRAIL" which is defined as "more expensive than the rest of your collection combined" - instead, define it in terms of rarity and significance. If you ask the question: "would you sell everything else to buy your 'GRAIL'", then I submit that you have an impoverished view of what a 'GRAIL' ought to be.

I've never been a fan of the term grail watch, but that is a excellent definition. One of my favorite grail posts was at the old place when someone bought their grail watch and gushed about it only to post it for sale a week later.
