    **** M.F.S.I.I.T.W.I - Round five ****

Well we have been doing a more for a score - In It To Win It thread for the last couple of months so now all of the watches are in. We get to the fun bit of looking at them and voting ..

All comments are welcome voting is open to all for those who use tapacrap just say so in your post and who you want if you want to join in ... All are welcome as I say ..

There is going to be a mystery prize thanks to the kindly donation by Alan and of course the badge but think we mainly did it as a bit of fun and frolics ..

    Round winners level 1 :

Round one winner: Crownpuller: Times ssq..
round two winner: DJW: Luch 2209..
round three winner: matt: Certina ...
round four winner: Litlmn: Casio 358 AMW

The rules well everything has to have rules

1 ) can only vote once whether by vote or post....

    2) think we don't need any more do we

These threads will run for six days for voting Sunday - Saturday.. every Saturday the winner will be put forward and the not so lucky watch will be out...

And then on the Sunday a draw will be done for the next round and so on till all the first rounds are drawn then the winners will go head to head in random draws till there is only one .....

Then they get bragging rights, gifts and badges galore .....

The two to be pulled randomly out the hat are in order of them being pulled is :

    Meijlinder : tianjin Dong Feng.

The early st5's were 18000bph. Those movements are marked with the Chinese signs for dongfeng.
Then when the 21600 bph version was developed they were marked just 19 zuan (jewel) and ST5

It wasn't until the branding was changed from Dongfeng (East wind) to Seagull that the now famous Seagull stripes were added to the movements.

    Colin 63 : Timex expedition.

    Here's mine. Lightweight and comfortable.

    As always Ismy

Dongfeng for me. Love the dial and red arrow seconds hand.

I had a Swiss Emperor with a seconds hand like that.

    Sent from my Honor 5c

Finally an easy one, for me at least. Tianjin for the win.

Almost a philosophical conundrum for me here.

The scales have only recently fallen from my eyes in relation to Timex. A field watch shouldn't cost more than a pair of jeans, and the Expedition gives you the lot - low price, decent quality, respect for classic design, and the simple brilliance of Indiglo. There are variants I like a little more, but I'd happily take this one at the price.

The Tianjin is the more fascinating, and the more remarkable find, but I've voted for the one I would wear - the Timex.

yes have worn similar watches to both of these they both have a lot going for them in different ways

timex reliable grab and go will do what is says it will in a no nonsense tool watch approach and a decent enough cheap version of say the there old mechanical timex had one of the quartz also still got one of there mil mech ones from the 70's ,

now the dongfeng it's a more classical beauty shall we say more of a smart watch looks good a classic of the Chinese watches of that time has a work horse of a movement and needs hardly a look at some 30 odd years later on.. well the ones I had did not even need a service when I got them sold most of them but the couple left are going like a good un still so yes indeed ....

so think the timex might be over looked sum what for it sorry to say cheap looking ness But that could be a mistake as I know which would probable last the longest if used hard and would be the easier to fix so yes it was a good match up even if it did not appear so on first look
