    Random watch thread 2

As a wind-up merchant, I’ve noticed the use of *mechanical* in a few places

Perhaps in a non-WIS market (eg the military buffs who might go for these W10s) *hand- wind* or *manual-wind* are less clear to people?

Certainly a lot of WIS use *automatic* as the default for *non-quartz*:

It's the final countdown! PM me before they're all gone!

I think I'm deciding against it.
This watch quite fits my (loose) criteria on paper, but it doesn't excite me.
Alan had a valid point about the seconds hand -- I wouldn't see the red tip most of the time (but I don't know if it would bug me).

Their pricing policy seems rather greedy, too.

I wish it didn't say mechanical... I mean why? I would assume this is a niche novelty watch and most who are into it would already know it's mechanical, or could figure it out easily. I would have preferred the broad arrow marking, but not sure they can legitimately do that. Too bad.

That’s a good question, and I can’t answer it. Use of the pheon arrow has been prohibited in the past, but the legislation is nineteenth century and may no longer be in force.

The MoD protects its insignia, but I can’t see the pheon in the documentation.

It’s possible that Hamilton didn’t want to introduce possible confusion between original and reissued models.

    Ultra-thin for a G-Shock - 11.8mm. Modest overall size, too. And cheap.

Red wine infused purchases are a bit of a cliché, but the G-ROO is on its way.

G-Shock Ultra-Thin - at the very least, I need to look at one of those.

My O&W had a spurious one, and a phoney NSN (NATO stock number)
This was never an issue watch, just 36 made (18 with arabics, 18 sticks)

It didn’t sit well with me, and was one of the reasons I let it go
There’s a sniff of stolen valour about that, for me

    Timefactors did with the PRS-29

    PRS-29

    W10

I guess the lack of faux aging on dial and lume, and the GB vs Made in England help differentiate new from old

I'm curious about it. AFAIK, until now 'octagons' (G(W)-056) have been considered the slimmest.
