I can half remember a story of Eddie Platts asking Albert Wajs how many watches he had supplied to the military. ‘None’ was the reply, and I think Wajs was almost surprised to be asked.

Yes, I remember those and (having looked it up) they were slimmer, at 11mm. They didn’t have to accommodate hands, of course. I always found them a bit odd, like a flattened and distorted 5600.

ok so what is the difference between the 6497 in a steinhart and any other cheap 6497 say in a parnis for example ?

yes I know asian ones are clones just wanted some more back history like unitas became eta etc etc and how quality is plus is it worth going from a 6497 to a st36 skeleton instead .

The ‘swiss made’ looks out of place and incongruous with the (Cuban) brand name text above, and especially the ‘Habana’ directly above it.
Furthermore the ‘cigar smoking world championship’ text also looks totally ridiculous.
I do normally like the wackiness of this brand though.
