Life beyond sunburst: dial textures that entice without sparkling

For me, my interest in a watch usually starts with the dial and radiates out: I have hands I like, cases I like, strap preferences etc, but its all about how they relate to the dial.

And in dials, what I really really like, is a sunburst dial: of my nine watches, seven have a definite sunburst. I love the play of light etc etc. When I look at, say, an ultra-matte diver, or some other watch for which the legibility of the lume is very important, I appreciate the workmanship, but its not tickling my watch-fancy.

However... I know there are other dial textures which also have allure: satin finishes that gently glisten, enamel dials with depth....but I don't know which they are, how to spot them from the photos and the descriptions....

    Help me, please?

How do you feel about mineral dials? I have several in my collection.

Try this ammolite dial for size:

Thanks for that - the first photo for some reason isn't being displayed.

Yes, this is exactly the kind of thing I'm wanting to learn

    How about Guilloché ?

(I've only got a good pic of my nivrel Guilloché (below), but I've got the Epos regulator too which has the best of both worlds: a (albeit off centre) sunburst Guilloché dial !! - pic tomorrow)

I always fear that a guilloche dial is just a bumpy of a plain matte dial

What do you mean by "sunburst dial"? I'm picturing a sunburst Stratocaster but I'm pretty sure that's not what you mean.

a subtle texture to the dial radiating from central (usually):
