Quartz and sapphire and reliable and cheap: possible??

I was talking to a friend yesterday whose quartz Seiko 7n42-8070 is getting battered.

Esp that crystal. He paid £80 for it back in the day and though seemingly discontinued I found one online for £55.

Keeping to this style and roughly to this size (37mm) how much more would an equivalent with sapphire be? Would like to give him an option if I can.

You could always remove the hardlex crystal, measure it (or work out the size via the seiko part number) and order a sapphire crystal from one of the many suppliers.
    Yobokies might stock one.

That Bulova is only 3atm unfortunately, and I think he needs more than that for what he's been putting that Seiko through. tbh I think he needs 10atm

    5atm or better
    Sapphire
    Around 37mm
    Quartz
    Typical military styling
Canvas strap ideal but not essential

I know whatever it is will be more than the Seikos £55
