    Golden Oldie

On July 31, 1989 the Blue Jays were battling it out for the American League East pennant and they needed a lift.

The Mets provided it, with the trade of the incredible Mookie Wilson, and veteran hitter Lee Mazzilli. Mookie became as big a legend in Toronto as he had been with the Mets.
This crazy song got played just about every time he came up to bat in the shiny new Skydome.

Mookie got to play in two playoff series but he wasn't about to take the CF job away from the sublime Devo. He retired after the '91 season when his option wasn't picked up by the Jays.
Of course, Mookie will always have 1986 to remember - as will Bill Buckner. You can look it up.

The Mookster was always a treat to watch on the diamond.

No baseball fan needs to look up Bill Buckner.

You know, after that game, Buckner tried to kill himself by jumping in front of a bus; it went through his legs.
