Get custom lengths made and you'll wonder why you put up with that slightly wrong fit and/or clasp location for so long.

Probably easier to shave off 1mm between the lugs than find a 19mm strap.

This is true. I bought a strap I thought would work on a vintage UN, only to find it was 19mm and didn't work. Can't find 19mm..... Of course I should have measured properly the first time. Oh well.

Just squeeze a 20mm strap in - works just fine. Or go custom.

I twice followed this piece of oft repeated advice. Once with a chunky strap it looked ok-ish. With something smarter it looked awful.
